The Ready Word

Privacy policy

Last updated 29 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data The Ready Word collects through thereadyword.com, why, and what you can ask me to do with it. I keep it short because I collect very little.

Who is responsible

The data controller is Monique Swanepoel, a sole proprietorship (ENK) trading as The Ready Word, org. nr. 927 517 485, Oslo, Norway. You can reach me at ready@thereadyword.com about anything in this policy.

What I collect and why

Contact form and email. When you send a request through the form or email me, I receive your name, work email, company (if you give it), the service you are interested in and your message. I use this only to reply to you and, if we work together, to prepare an agreement. The legal basis is your request to be contacted and steps taken before entering into a contract (GDPR article 6(1)(b)).

The prep sheet and occasional notes. If you sign up for the interview prep sheet, I receive your email address (and your name, if you give it). I use it to send you the sheet and occasional notes on executive communication. You confirm your signup by email, and every email has an unsubscribe link. The legal basis is your consent (article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.

Visiting the site. The site has no analytics and no advertising. The fonts are hosted on the site itself. The signup form is provided by MailerLite and protected against spam by Google reCAPTCHA, which may set technical cookies needed for the form to work. As with any website, the hosting provider records your IP address when you load a page, for security purposes. The legal basis is a legitimate interest in keeping the site secure (article 6(1)(f)).

Who processes data for me

Some of these companies are based in, or process data in, the United States. Where data leaves the EEA, they rely on recognised safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. I never sell your data or share it with anyone for marketing.

How long I keep it

Mailing list subscribers stay on the list until they unsubscribe, and are then removed. If we don't start working together, I delete your enquiry within 12 months of our last contact. If we do, I keep correspondence for as long as the engagement lasts, and accounting records for as long as the Norwegian Bookkeeping Act (bokføringsloven) requires, currently five years.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how I use it, or receive a copy in a portable format. Email ready@thereadyword.com and I will reply within one month.

If you think I have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
